Neighbouring schools, Methodist Ladies College and Christchurch Grammar School created a new joint venture aquatic precinct for their students to enjoy. Commercial Aquatics Australia were engaged to complete the construction of a new water polo and racing pool.

The pool is 40m x 25m x 2m deep with a full perimeter overflow gutter and fully tiled. The pool can be configured in a variety of ways, either as a full course water polo field, duel practice short course fields, or up to sixteen racing lanes. The associated balance and backwash tank was also constructed.

Filtration is served by sand filtration units with a granular tablet chlorine system and liquid acid dosing system. Heating is achieved via a direct gas heater. Allowance was made in the pipe work for future planned geothermal bore heating. Full coverage thermal blankets were provided with hydraulic motor assist and stored within bench seat type enclosures.
