Commercial Aquatics Australia was engaged as the Head Contractor to completely refurbish the outdoor facilities at the Terry Tyzack Aquatic Centre, with the outdoor 50m and Dive pools having been in operation for over 50 years and requiring replacement.
The existing 50m and Dive pools were demolished and the existing Learn to Swim pool structure was stripped and cut in preparation for refurbishment. All concourse, hard & soft landscaping, lighting and play equipment were stripped also ready for new replacement. The plant room building, which had the old pool’s concrete gravity filter incorporated in the structure was completely stripped of services and mostly demolished inclusive of cutting the old gravity filter and leaving the remaining structure for the basis of the new refurbished plant room building.
A new dual purpose 50m and water polo pool was built inclusive of a swim wall and access ramp. The LTS pool was re-built with new gutters and new access ramp. The pools are serviced by overhead shade structures and lighting incorporated within the shade sail posts to allow compliant lighting for night-time use. In-ground pool blankets service the 50m pool and roller bench blanket storage service the LTS pool which double as seating area.
The existing pool’s plant room was re-built around the existing gravity filter with new masonry work, roofing, louvres and roller doors fit-out. The pools are serviced by new sand filtration systems, salt-water disinfection, and dry acid dosing systems. The existing primary heating condensing gas boiler system was expanded in capacity and new heat exchangers installed to service the pools. A touchscreen electrical control board was installed to manage the complete systems.
New exposed ag concourse and drainage to soak wells were installed. A bespoke custom curved exposed ag seat was built and new timber look seating and rubbish bins were installed throughout the area. The existing picnic shelters were re-furbished with a new playground on soft fall and BBQ facilities installed. General lounging areas were created defined by a long privacy screen, with decked areas, chairs and umbrellas.
The existing grandstand was refurbished and re-painted with a perspective artistic scheme. New mulched garden beds with plantings were created and all new turf laid out over the whole site. A new reticulation system was installed to service the new garden beds & turf with an iron filter to reduce bore water stains.
