Constructed in the Regional City of Ballarat, the Midlands Reserve water play provides a high-quality installation with fun for all ages. Toddlers and young children are encouraged to explore water with gentle fountains, ground sprays and spraying toys at one end; the other end contains higher power elements such as duelling water cannons, a water shooting volcano, and a high flow waterfall. An activator bollard initiates the features when pressed, and all water is recirculated through the water treatment plant concealed nearby providing excellent water quality.
The 23 elements are arranged on a 12.5m x 18m concrete slab as a zero-depth water play, with a submerged concrete balance tank to collect water. The equipment kiosk includes a skid mounted equipment module with sand filtration, liquid chlorination and acid dosing systems, and an ozone generator to ensure excellent water quality. Commercial Aquatics Australia undertook all elements of the water play construction including concrete works, hydraulic installation, and commissioning.
