Northam’s once dry only recreation centre received a redevelopment to include a new aquatic centre, complete with a 50m and Leisure pool, water slides, new amenity and plantroom buildings, bleachers, and shade sails.

Commercial Aquatics provided a 50m x 8 lane pool, 1.2m to 2m depth with a disabled entry ramp. The multi-zone Leisure pool ranges from zero to 1m depth and includes a learn to swim, beach entry, toddlers, waterplay and a slide landing zone for four water slides up to 5m elevation. Associated balance and backwash tanks were also constructed.

Filtration is served by sand filtration units with a bulk chlorine gas system, soda ash and flocculent dosing systems. Heating is achieved a variety of ways—the 50m is served by a solar system. The Leisure Pool has a duel solar and gas heater system, and the toddler’s system is a gas heater system.
