A uniquely tailored ProSlide Tornado 60 design, the Kraken waterslide drops 30m along the 260m of ride. The four-person raft must first negotiate over 150m of almost pitch-black twists and turns, including a heart-pounding drop and a 360° twist, before dropping 8m almost vertically into the massive 60-foot funnel—which is about the height of a 6-storey building. At this drop point rider can reach speeds of up to 6.7m per second. They experience moments of zero gravity and will feel they are just about to tip before gravity pulls them back to the bottom and up the other side and finally through the dark outrun flume and into the splash landing pool. The splash landing pool is an unheated outdoor concrete pool, it is nominally 16m x 7.5m with a depth of 0.9m. The pool features a 5.8m long, 2.4m deep conveyer chute at the SW corner of the pool which delivers the raft to the top of the slide. Our scope of works also includes 3 large circulation pumps to draw and feed large quantities of water from the landing pool, a complete supply and install package for the associated pool and slide hydraulics, filtration, and water treatment systems. Wet deck edges and two balance tanks are included as well as a Neptune Benson Defender filter to achieve ultrafine filtration. A Prominent chemical controller is installed on the system to continually monitor the chlorine and pH levels in the pool water. It then automatically operates the chlorine gas and soda ash dosing systems.
